Halloween on the Venice Canals

This is how Venice does Halloween. These are 2 homes on the Venice Canals. Our neighbor Linda told us about this display and we headed out to see it. Well worth the trip.

This is the home owner. Obviously a nice guy because he does this every year. Must love kids.

Happy Halloween!

School Halloween Parade

Thanks to my awesome neighbor Linda who remembered to take her camera, took these fabulous pictures of Jacob and his friends today. I was running (literally) from work to be there on time and totally forgot about a camera. I was late for most of the parade but managed to see Jacob's class take their turn around the track for the parade.

School Picture

Jacob has figured out how to smile on cue and I think this is his best school picture so far.

Community Planting Day

Today was community planting day at Jacob's elementary school. It was a big success with many families attending.

It was a family affair project.

Jacob was very happy digging holes.

Jacob with his principal Mr. Jenkins. Jacob got a "good deed" coupon for working.

Jacob next to his classroom tree that the kids planted on Friday. Have you voted today for the school grant? http://www.tomsofmaine.com/community-involvement/project-sponsorships.aspx

Vasquez Rocks

Today we took a day trip to Vasquez Rocks in Agua Dolce near Santa Clarita. It was a beautiful day. Jacob had a great time and did not want to leave. I think we will be going back again some day.

Rare family photo.

To quote Jacob, we enjoyed our little adventure.

First Grade Writer

Jacob is embracing his new found skill of writing. We are thrilled that he is putting pen to paper although I wish he wouldn't use a Sharpie.

This scene of notes was waiting for me when I got out of the shower one morning.

Michael's bedside table: "I want to have pancakes". We had to remind Jacob that it was a school day and major cooking was not on the menu.

Jacob's continual request: "I want to go outside".

In the kitchen with food requests: "I want milk and when I get home (continued on back) I want juice". Second note was a request for breakfast "I want mini waffles".

Deedee's Baby Shower

It was a lovely Sunday afternoon to spend outside celebrating with friends.
Our illustrious book club members Amanda, me, Mandi, Deedee, JT and not pictured Jeanna who had to leave early.

This is Deedee, the guest of honor, who is thrilled to be having a girl. The name wars are in full swing between Sarah and Paige.

Keeping Jacob Busy

Michael is currently out of town on business and keeping Jacob busy is a full time job. I packed Saturday full of events which seemed to help pass the day.

First we headed to the Mar Vista Fall Festival. Jacob enjoyed the Kiddle Karoo's Green Puppet Show.

Then we headed to the craft table.

Finished craft project.

Our second trip, to Party City, was for the makings of Jacob's Halloween costume. He wants to be Obi Wan Kenobi so we purchased the robe and I will fill in the rest of the costume.

Finally, we headed out to Seal Beach to see Auntie Thea and Grandpa. Jacob played for a couple hours then we went to CPK for dinner. A nice end to a busy day.
