Banana cake and caramel frosting. Wearing the new necklace that Thea gave me.
Michael and Jacob colored eggs again this year.

Happy Birthday and Easter.
Thank you for all your generous gifts.

Passover Dinner

Our big second grader reading from the Haggadah this year.

You could tell where Jacob sat, matzoh every where.

Dad likes to take pictures of people taking pictures.

Happy Spring everyone!

Star Eco Station

We spent Earth Day at the Star Eco Station which is an exotic wildlife rescue center.

Cute black fish.

Puffer fish. Did you know that when they puff up to prevent being swallowed that they have a mini heart attack.

Lionfish have venomous tentacles.

Did you know that alligators are legal pets in Texas? Glad I live in California where they are not legal pets. These babies were seized by someone trying to smuggle them in to the state.

Beautiful, quiet Toucan.

These iconic birds are very popular pets, and many are captured to supply demand for this trade.

I love parrots but they are noisy and messy.

There are 17 species of macaws, and several are endangered. These playful birds are popular pets, and many are illegally trapped for that trade. The rain forest homes of many species are also disappearing at an alarming rate.

La Brea Tar Pits

Jacob was very cooperative with pictures today.

The turtles were a big hit.

Log of turtles.

Atrium

It was a beautiful day.

Jacob enjoyed taking pictures with all the prehistoric animals.

Our movie of the day was Ice Age of course. For some reason I seem to sleep through the movies after our adventures:)

California Science Center

Trying to catch clouds.

Rose garden.

Looking at the Rose garden from the science center.

Pedaling...

...for power

Arctic zone in the ecosystems exhibit.

Aquarium of the Pacific

Welcome to our spring break. We have many activities planned for this week. Stay tuned for more pictures.

Jacob consented to a picture, too bad I couldn't take a good one. We had good timing as the octopus was out and moving today.
Red and white sea anemone.

White sea anemone. It is more impressive in person, looked like marshmallows.

Chocolate chip sea star, who knew?

Cool fish.

Jacob had fun embossing at all the stations. We finished the day out by watching Finding Nemo.

Balloon Man

Jacob received a bag of balloons and we have discovered that he has a new talent.

A fancy hat. Water balloons tied together.

Cowboy hat, holding a mouse.

Where did he learn this knowledge, You Tube of course. We are thinking of renting him out for parties.

2nd Grade Spring Music Performance

All the second grade classes had a music performance today in which the kids sang: Planting Seeds, We Are the Loveliest Flowers, Weeds Rule, The Garden Hoedown and Ladybug.

Jacob and his fellow weeds singing "Weeds Rule". Jacob's cool weed costume. His second grade class and fellow garden members.
