Pictures with Santa

Can't remember the last time I sat on Santa's knee. Santa, a.k.a Bill our neighbor, helped out with the Toys for Tots organization this year and since he had the costume he set up shop in our neighborhood too. We had a neighborly good time and I got a candy cane too! Thanks Bill and Linda for this fun holiday treat.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas...

It has become an annual tradition for Jacob to help Bill put up his Christmas lights and he loves it.

A new fixture this year, a train.

Neighbor extraordinaire Linda and her new holiday wreath.

Too busy to stop "working" to eat lunch so I kept giving him finger food like these crackers to keep him going.

After all the outside lights at our neighbors we went to Grandpa's and Aunt Thea's to decorate the Christmas tree. We let Jacob do most of it.

Looking at the lights with Aunt Thea.

Our weekend was filled with family and friends and we enjoyed every minute.

Passover Dinner

Our big second grader reading from the Haggadah this year.

You could tell where Jacob sat, matzoh every where.

Dad likes to take pictures of people taking pictures.

Happy Spring everyone!

First Day of Spring

Happy first day of spring, although it does not seem like it with all this rain. Today also happens to be the holiday of Purim. Every Purim I make hamantaschen which are one of my favorite cookies. I always make poppy seed-raisin filling and this year I tried fig filling too, both were great.

Holiday Lights

I think Jacob has established an annual tradition of helping our neighbor out with his Christmas lights. This year Jacob was knocking on the door asking when he could help.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

It was 86 degrees in Venice yesterday so I treated Jacob to a Shamrock Shake. Who knew green poop would follow for the rest of the day.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Gingerbread Houses

Foundation going down.
Roof going up.

Yea, it stayed together!

The 5 of us stayed all day helping the kids, and we survived to talk about it.

Rows and rows of houses.

Candy...

Candy...

Didn't know you could fit that much candy on graham crackers.

Jacob's house stayed together so it was structurally sound.

School is out tomorrow. Happy Holidays!

Post Thanksgiving Fun

Jacob helping our friend and neighbor hang Christmas lights.

Jacob helped put this snowman together.

Rib feast at Scott's house.

The BBQ King.
We also helped Aunt Thea trim the Chirstmas Tree but I forgot to take a picture.

The Aftermath

After the trick or treating was over I asked Jacob what was his favorite part of Halloween and his reply was the glow sticks. As a Dietitian it was good to hear that candy did not make the top of the list. Fast forward to this morning at 6 AM, I had a child crying at my bedside and the only thing I could understand was chemicals and eyes. As I got to my feet I realized Jacob had broke open his glow stick and it sprayed into his eyes. Michael and I got him to the bathroom and rinsed his eyes with water but trying to keep Jacob's eyes open was a challenge. I should have realized with a Mad Scientist as a kid that I would need an eye wash station in my own home.

Easter

I had to work today to catch up on missed work from our vacation. Jacob got to have a Daddy day. Looks like they did a great job dying eggs, very creative.

Passover

We celebrated Passover a little late this year due to our Hawaiian vacation. Thea and Dad were able to come this year and didn't have to fight the weekday traffic. Jacob found the hidden matzah and got a dollar. Hank taught him a new magic trick with the dollar which he was proud to show everyone, several times.
