Getty Museum School Field Trip

The "yellow" group, Jada, Addison and Jacob.

I asked the kids their most favorite part, the tram ride of course.

Jacob and Jay.

Docent led tour, the lines of architecture.

Docent led tour, feeling the stone.

The garden tour was pretty popular with the kids as they actually got to touch the plants.

Schools Out

Jacob's day off from school started with creating a slide with bubble wrap.

We had rainbow sherbet for an afternoon treat, Jacob opted for a cup.

Mom had a cone.

Jacob had a make-up soccer class today but was dwarfed by the big kids.

He was intimidated at first but quickly settled in with the big kids.

It was a nice change of pace being off today.

Happy Valentine's Day

I took my little valentine to the movies this morning.
We sat by the fountain finishing our snacks after the movie. It was a beautiful day.

In the afternoon, we went ice skating with friends.

My big valentine made us homemade fried shrimp and salmon. He also made steamed chocolate and fruit puddings with chocolate syrup but they got eaten before I could take a picture.

Legos

Self Portrait.

I have been encouraging Jacob to take pictures of his Lego creations and I found quite a few in his camera. Here are some good ones.

Books, Books Everywhere

Jacob has always had an appreciation for books, he has been coming with me to the library since he was born. I still read to him every night and he is always excited to hear a new book that we have picked out. Now that he can read he has an even greater appreciation for books. This morning he proclaimed that he was going to read a book a day. I don't think he can keep up with this lofty goal but I am supporting it none the less. After school he decided to organize his book shelves. He took out the books and then organized them by character. He even put dividers to separate certain books. I am not sure I follow his filing system so he is in charge of putting all books away. Happy reading folks!

Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head

Venice Beach apparently can only handle sunny weather because the last two times it has rained the power has gone out. Not wanting to figure out how to use the emergency release in my electric garage, Jacob and I headed out for lunch by walking. Armed with umbrellas, jackets and gloves we walked to Subway. The rain wasn't so bad but the wind was a problem. We had a nice lunch and made friends with someone who was stuck without her car for 3 hours. After lunch we went to Albertsons to buy graham crackers, I figured a day like this needed smores. I found a recipe for making them in the oven:) Jacob complained the whole way home but he was laughing and smiling while doing it. The power outage lasted three and a half hours, just long enough to be a novelty. It felt good to be a kid again if only for a day.

Mexican Riviera

We sailed to Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerta Vallarta on our Mexican cruise and we had a fabulous time. We made some new friends as our table mates were traveling with their 6 year old granddaughter and I can now say yes, no and grandmother in Russian.
