Happy Halloween

Harry Potter and Michael's beautiful photography.

Jacob's class.

Annual Halloween parade at school. I had a blast hanging out with Jacob's class today. And we enjoyed the ghost cookies I made.

Another One For The Scrapbook

Jacob started A Book About Me for school and here are some of his answers.

My favorite animal is a Platypus (he says because it breaks the rules of being a mammal and laying eggs).

My favorite game is Sorry.

My favorite food is spaghetti.

My favorite place is my home (which is why we can never get him out of the house).

Banana-Chocolate Chip Muffins

I made these muffins this weekend for a treat and they got a thumbs up. I decreased the baking time by 5 minutes and they were still a bit over done so check them early if you make them. Happy baking:)

Best of Summer Part 1

Jacob has journal writing twice a week now. One of his topics he chose to write about was "Summer Bests" and I thought I would share his list.

Best food pomegranate seeds.
Best clothing Star Wars shirt.
Best song Dog Train.
Best movie Star Wars.
Best place home.
Best camp science camp.
Best gift ipod.
Best days Saturday and Sunday.
Best Neighbor Linda.
Best room my room.

Best of Summer Part 2

The staff at Smart Space take pictures during camp and then share with the parents on their website. Here are some highlights from Jacob's 4 weeks of summer art camp.

Assembling surrealist dream box.

Jacob said he won the dirtiest hands contest.

I am so happy the staff got a picture of the t-shirt print that Jacob made since he has now ruined his shirt.

Yoga with dirty art hands.

Jacob's outer space alien.

Who doesn't love duct tape.

One of Jacob's favorite projects this summer, tie-dye using natural dyes made from vegetables, cherries, flowers and tea.

Art work inspired by Georges Seurat and his technique of pointillism.

Now I need to put all this artwork into another photo book as my house has piles of art.

My Big Second Grader

Second grade, here I come! So far Jacob has enjoyed his first 2 days of school. He says second grade is more fun than first. He knows almost everyone in his class. All the kids get a hug or handshake before leaving class for the day. What's not to like? I think it will be a good year:)

The Bread Man

For those of you that don't know, my husband has turned into the bread man. Very often on weekends bread is baking in the oven. Sometimes he has varying degrees of success but this week he made the perfect challah. Jacob even helped, he braided the bread. Next weeks assignment, raisin bread.
