Golden Gate Park

10/4/2020. My first business trip to the bay area. Arrival day we spent some time in Golden Gate Park. I think we were just happy to get out of the house.

Nassau, Bahamas

We have also been to Nassau, Bahamas several times. We were here last in 2017. We did mainly the same things.
I always try and find the local library when I can. This was a small library, we did not go in.
Queen's stairs. Jacob did not go a shore last time we were here so we went again to show Jacob.
Queen's stairs.
Fort Fincastle. We just walked around the outside.
View of the cruise ships from Fort Fincastle.
I wanted to buy some rum cakes for work and this was the only one we could find. The previous store we went to in 2017 was gone.
Jacob made this towel art for our room attendant. We don't know if he found it funny.
Fried donuts for dessert. I think the waiter new that they were not that great as he brought us ice  cream as well. He was right  we ate the ice cream instead of the donuts.
Back of the ship where we saw the water show.
Hiro water show.
Hiro water show.
Tight rope walking on the Hiro water show.
Jacob snapped a picture of his health watch app showing that we walked "most floors climbed".

Crusing Day

Before our final stop in Nassau we had a cruising day. The buffet lunch in the Windjammer had this enormous chocolate cake. I marveled at how it was baked. It was delicious and very chocolaty.

That  night for dinner was lobster tail. Jacob and Michael enjoyed their two lobster tails.
Royal Caribbean is celebrating 50 years in business. In addition to our desserts we received this cake. It looked better than it tasted. Jacob really enjoyed the sucker on top.
Piano Man. Jacob had informed us about the piano man who travels about the ship. We found him this day in the elevator. Such fun.
Piano Man in elevator.
Jacob always liked the towel art.
Flight was one of the shows we saw. The dramatic ending was this flight above the audience.

Cozumel, Mexico

This is our third trip to Cozumel, Mexico. The last time we were here was 2012 and we went to Chankanaab and saw the sea lion show and Mayan exhibit. This time Michael arranged a bike tour of the city.
I thought this sign was very funny.
Jacob and I smiles before we got started.
A local church.
Inside the church.
Our group of 9 was a hurry up and wait group, emphasis on wait.
Our guide took us to a farmer's market and these green squash are chayote. I had recently cooked with these so I was glad to have recognized them.
Mamey Fruit, aka Pouteria Sapota. This was a new  fruit for us. Jacob was brave enough to try it but he didn't like it. We thought it was a sweet, soft fruit.
This is the lunch stall where we had a snack.
Chicken Salbutes. This was the snack we ate and Jacob loved it. He really has been an adventurous eater on this trip. Now we need to find them in LA.

Costa Maya, Mexico

When we got off the ship in Costa Maya, this was our view from the port. Symphony of the Seas is the biggest ship on the ocean and you can see why, it dwarfs regular ships.

We had nothing planned for Costa Maya. We took a walk down the medium of the street. It was a nice walkway. It was hot and humid so we did not spend much time on this city. By the evening it was raining and our pool show was rescheduled for another day.
This was our turn around point.
The last time we were in Costa Maya was 2012 and we went to Mahahual beach and Jacob was this big.
The Solarium at night.
Towel adventures.

Roatan, Honduras

Our first time on the island of Roatan, Honduras and we had a very nice time. Michael hired in advance a driver name Shelford Dilbert who was our guide for the day.  The air conditioned van was nice too.

Shelford was born on the island. He answered all our questions and gave us a good tour of a small part of the island. Traffic was an issue with seeing much of the island.
We took Shelford's advice and ate the local dish of iguana, rice and beans and fried plantains. It was delicious and yes it 'tastes like chicken'. Jacob ordered fried chicken but he actually liked the iguana better. He is becoming quite the adventurous eater.  It is actually illegal to kill iguana on the island so go figure why it was on the menu. I would definitely go back to the island of Roatan.

Miami and Boarding Day

Miami Beach.
Jacob was smittened with the glass houseboat.
Miami.
Miami Beach.
Boarding day. We were able to get on the ship by 10:30-11:00AM and have lunch on the ship. Rooms are usually ready by 1:00PM.
Line dancing, the Electric Slide. I did a class of line dancing every day.

Central Park, deck 8.
Grass/plant wall, Central Park.
Ship art.
Balloon Drop with Mike the Cruise Director on the Royal Promenade. Jacob made us stay up until Midnight to attend. It was fun but noisy, everyone popped the balloons. All in all a good first day.
