5th Grade Culmination

They played pomp and circumstance for the kids to walk in.
There was a recorder and drum song.
The handshake.
I will miss the principal, he is excellent.
The kids danced and sang to Happy by Pharrell Williams.
Everyone was happy by the end.  We will miss this little school down the street that has been our home for the past 7 years.  Jacob is looking forward to new adventures.

The Award

Jacob likes trophies and when he figured out that they give trophies for perfect attendance he made it his goal.  Jacob has won this award twice.  Last year he missed it due to our vacation plans and he has not let us forget it.  Next up graduation!  (Jacob is wearing his new commemorative t-shirt he got at the party).

The Party

I think Jacob's school motto is "go big or go home".  The 5th graders were treated to a graduation party this past Saturday including dinner, entertainment and cake.
Jacob looking snappy in his fancy duds.
They had a red carpet and this banner for pictures.
It was a family affair.  Michael and I signed up to chaperon, it was a long 3 hours.
Michael was smart enough to hide when they asked for parent volunteers, clearly I was not.  Jacob received a nice gift bag and a commemorative t-shirt.
This was Jacob's last culmination from pre-k.  My how time flies!

Jog-a-Thon

Every year the school does a jog-a-thon, this will be Jacob's last one.  He is on the end with his best pal Ethan.  Jacob ran 10 laps which is pretty good given his cold/allergy state.

The Time Machine

Jacob read The Time Machine by H.G. Wells for school this year.  Part of their project was to make a time machine.  This is what Jacob came up with.  I neglected to take a picture of it before it went to school, it now has some ware and tear.  In true Jacob style he wanted to include a working part.  He and Michael put in a battery powered switch that turned the wheel in the back.
