Toasted Marshmallow Ice Cream

In our house we encourage full participation in cooking especially when it involves a blow torch.  I found a recipe for toasted marshmallow ice cream and Jacob was eager to help roast the marshmallows.  We served them like 'smores with graham crackers and chocolate chips.  Highly recommend the recipe.  http://www.traceysculinaryadventures.com/2012/01/toasted-marshmallow-ice-cream.html#.UeWT343VB8E

The Minion Project

In first grade Jacob did a Flat Stanley project.  We decided to duplicate the project with Jacob's Minion from Despicable Me.

Check up at the dentist.  All is well.

One giant piece of pizza and a Fanta to boot.

Lunch at In-n-Out with Nana and Zaide.

We saw Despicable Me 2 on opening day.

Welcome to Summer

Welcome summer hot and dry

you warm me feeling nice and hot

you fill my body with joy from warmth

and as I stand their softly pacing

I feel the warm water calmly flowing

And to this day summer shall always be

The summer I know so well

As I say the waves are crashing at my feet

Flowers swaying in the wind

And then summer always brings happiness

to us all

Thea's New House

A House Becomes a Home

Jacob helped assemble the new palm tree, in his new fancy duds.

It was a family affair today.  Scott and Michael put in new locks.

And most importantly, a meal was served.  A house becomes a home.  We look forward to many new memories.

Snappy Dresser

Jacob was in desperate need of some new clothes, pants that were long enough and jeans without holes in the knees.  Jacob not only agreed to go clothes shopping but was enthusiastic about doing so.  He is really into bright colors these days especially green.

New coat, dress shirt and tie for the formal night on the cruise.

Not only did Jacob try on the clothes when he got home but he provided a fashion show.

And was cooperative with pictures, what more could you ask for?

Jacob received a new "mod" (modification) for his Minecraft video game and he couldn't wait to try it out this morning.  He told me he woke up at 4 AM and I believe him since he fell asleep on his bed at 9 AM, something that never happens in this house.

Austin's Haircut

Oh, the indignity of it all.  Austin had some matting issues and would no longer let me cut his nails so off to the vet he went.  When he came home I hardly recognized him.  Jacob thinks he's cute and is petting him all the time.  All you dog sitters out there won't have to worry about hair come our vacation.    And the good news, I got my car back!

Mixed Berry Pie

When life gives you lemons, make pie.  At least that is what I say.  I miss Pushing Daisies, the show centered around a pie shop.  Here is my latest Bon Appetit adventure.  http://www.bonappetit.com/recipes/2009/06/mixed_berry_pie_with_ginger_orange_and_almond_streusel

I am still waiting to get my Chevy Volt back, sigh.
