Downtown LA

Olympiad 1984 by Milton Hebald, Rome 1986
Handstand by Milton Hebald, Rome 1986
I have been wanting to go to downtown LA and the central library since winter break but due to colds we never made it until now.  We started at the central library which is my favorite place and I could have spent all day there but the rest of the crowd is not as excited about books as I am.  For the record, Jacob checked out 8 books on origami.  Next I wanted to see the sculptures done by Milton Hebald.  I met him about a year ago and he told me about his sculptures at the YMCA on Hope Street.  Finally, Michael wanted to see the new Grand Park and it was grand.  Since it was a warm day the fountains were popular with the little crowd.  There was a Starbucks there which I am sure will get a lot of business.  All in all a good day in Downtown LA.

The Box

Continuing with my photo card clean up. I always wanted to blog about Jacob and his box.  He seems to find purpose in empty boxes.  The picture does not do justice to the mess that was in his room with the bits of Styrofoam.  Jacob would fit himself in this box and use the flashlight for I don't know what, he could hardly move in the box.  These photos are also from 2011, it must have been a busy year.

Many Faces of Jacob

I was cleaning up my photo card when I found these pictures from way back in 2011.  Jacob clearly had fun with the camera that day.  Let's see what else I can find.

Our New Chevy Volt

A casual comment turned into tickets to the LA auto show which turned into a few test drives which turned into buying a new Chevy Volt.

This is Scott who was our car salesman and the nicest man.  Car salesmen sure have changed but the paperwork did not, it was still an all day process.

Jacob has the car figured out already.  If he could reach the pedals I think he would drive it.

Showing our neighbor the new toy with promise of a car ride later.

Happy New Year!

Downtown LA

On the 6th night of Hanukkah, we went to downtown LA for a night of fun.
We ate dinner at the Original Pantry Cafe which none of us had been to before.  We enjoyed the big food dinner.

I bought tickets for Disney on Ice and we all enjoyed the show.
Downtown was very sparkly this time of year.
We all had a good time.  Jacob was thrilled to be out on a school night.

Holiday Sing 2012

The holiday sing is still my favorite school activity.  This year the kids sang "One Candle" and "December in America".  Jacob is not an enthusiastic performer but I am just glad he is comfortable in front of a crowd.  Enjoy.

Winter Break

On this 6th night of Hanukkah, Jacob received his first sleeping bag.  He has a 4th grade science camp that he will be attending in the spring, so we were planning ahead.  Today was also the last day of school for the winter break.  One of Jacob's goals was to stay up late, well he almost made it to 9:30 PM.
