La Brea Tar Pits

I did not have cooperative subjects today.
My only good pictures are of things no longer alive.

Auntie Thea, Grandpa, Jacob and I went to the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits today. We had a pretty good day. I was afraid of the school bus invasion but it was mostly quiet. Jacob managed to sit through both little films and he even said they were interesting. He was really looking forward to watching the volunteers dig in Pit 91 but it was not in use at this time. And then he did not want to leave until he saw some digging in the tar pits. But we managed to make it to the car with not much fan fare. The traffic going home for all parties was probably the worst of it.

I Did It and I Won!

I completed my 20 workouts and fulfilled my goal on June 15th. The Healthy Lifestyles Director selected winners from those that met the criteria. I was called today and told I had won five personal training sessions. Now when I started my goal ,the last thing I wanted to win was more workouts sessions. But I got used to working out 5 hours a week and now I miss it, I haven't set foot in the gym since Friday the 19th. Jacob starts swim lessons on the 30th so I will workout while he swims. A win-win situation I think:)

Last Day of Kindergarten

Jacob's star says Book of Knowledge Award for Science. The ribbons have quotes from his classmates. It says: my friends say that I know a lot about science, am handsome, am a good friend, am good at making race tracks and like insects. Jacob said about himself: I am an artist, I like music and I have cool clothes.

Singing.

Jacob's kindergarten teacher did a wonderful program with the kids for the last day of school. The kids sang 5 songs, they each got a certificate, a star and we had a little lunch. It was a great day.

Michael's Teaching Gig

Michael and another Boeing employee named Karen (whose daughter is in Jacob's class) did a presentation for the kids on how satellites work. They presented the teacher with this poster signed by all the kids, and a book on space.

2 kids, tied together were the power system and payload parts of the satellite. Another, the launch vehicle, pushed them into orbit away from the 4th kid, the earth. Normally we try not to tie kids up but in this case it was for science.

I Won, I Won

This past weekend was Jacob's school annual fundraiser called Spring Fling. Michael helped with the set-up in the morning and I took Jacob to the actual event. I bought some raffle tickets, 20/$25 and Jacob and I went "shopping" for the things that we liked best. We were not present for the actual raffle but come Monday morning one of the kids told me that we had won. Sure enough we won this Wii Active game. Bad news is that you need a Wii console to actually play the game. Well, this is what happens when you send Mom to "shop" for things in which I do not know the "system requirements".

Jacob also came away as a winner. The teachers offer outings with the students and the parents bid on the outings. Jacob won an outing with his teacher. He and one other classmate will be going to the Star Eco Station (environmental education wildlife rescue center) and then to a park for lunch. Mom and Dad who donated to the school for this outing will be enjoying a kid free meal:)

Jacob's Running Club

I had taken some video of Jacob's after school running class awhile ago and Michael made a movie for me out of the footage. I hope you enjoy it.

Jacob the Builder

When Jacob got home from school today he built this set up. I could probably blog everyday about something Jacob has built. Michael called it an apartment but Jacob called it a tent. Imagination is a wonderful thing.
